Kids ages 7 and older

Here are some things to remember when babysitting older kids:

Older kids can be very helpful, and they know the rules, but you have to be careful and listen for "It's okay! My (Our) parents let us do it all the time!" That saying could mean that they're testing you on your ability to handle things and be the "Adult," or it could mean that their parents really do let them do it. Whatever it means, if you think it's wrong, you should say, "I don't care if your parents think it's okay, because I don't. They put me in charge, and I wouldn't want you to get hurt or anything bad to happen while they're gone." If they say no, threaten to tell their parents that they would not listen to you. That should work.

If you go to the SHARE page, you can share your experiences with other teens, and read theirs too!
